Tapestry offers many ways to customize the information and feeds displayed in the timeline. One of the more powerful options is the Include Categories preference on individual RSS feeds. Enabling this appends the body text of an item with the various categories the blog post was assigned to by the author. Blogs typically sort their posts into categories (sports, gossip, news, etc) to help users find them quicker on their site. With the categories displayed on the item, it's possible to create a filter rule to muffle or mute a post you don't want to see in the timeline.
Here's how to turn on the option for an RSS feed:
1) Find an item in the timeline for the feed in question.
2) Tap the Action Item (...) on the item and then tap Customize Feed.
3) Scroll down to the Settings section and turn on Include Categories.
4) Tap Save at the top of the screen to save your feed changes.
New timeline items will now have categories in the body if the feed supports them. If you want to see the categories on all items immediately however, to create a filter rule for instance, you’ll have to manually clear the feed’s cache.
Once the feed's cache has been cleared, prior items will display the various categories in the body text of the posts. You can then write a filter rule to act on the posts as you would normally by looking for keywords in the body of the item. In the above example, with the blog's categories now included, we could add a keyword rule to look for "Big on the Internet" in the body text to muffle or mute the post completely.
NOTE: The Include Categories preference is only available on RSS feeds, ie blogs. Social media posts and other feed sources don't have categories to expose.
