Syncing of the timeline's reading position seems broken across devices.

 

The very first thing to do is to make sure you are viewing the same timeline in Tapestry on each device. Sometimes it’s easy to forget you’ve selected a different custom timeline on one device and perhaps "All Feeds" on another and therefore are actually looking at two completely different timelines. When this happens it can appear Tapestry's sync is broken but what's really happening is that you're looking at different content on each device. As a reminder, Tapestry syncs reading position on each timeline individually.

 

iCloud syncing after installing Tapestry on a new device seems slow or stalled. What's wrong?

 

First of all, please make sure you have agree to Apple iCloud's Terms and Conditions. Occasionally, Apple will change/update the terms, not agreeing to it will affect all iCloud syncing. Please go to Setting > iCloud >

 

You need to accept Apple's new terms and conditions on all Apple devices in order for iCloud syncing to work properly.

 

Secondly, if you have VPN turn on, might affect syncing as well. VPN will affect feed if certain blogs or RSS feed has geo-blocking as an example.

 

 

Sometimes iCloud is slow

 

The syncing badge is an indication that timeline syncing is actually working, it just can take time. Please do not force quit the app. If you force quit while the syncing badge is still visible, the entire process will have to start over from the beginning, taking even longer to complete. 

 

 

 

Why does syncing take so long?

 

If you bought a new iPad, or iPhone, Tapestry's iCloud data needs to be synced, this includes all timeline records from when you first started using the app. Depending on how long ago this was, this process can take a very long time. 

 

Other factors like the speed of your internet connection, iCloud status, and how many accounts and RSS feed you are trying to sync all affect how long the process can take.

 

 

For example… in an estimate...

 

Bluesky may take 5 mins.

Bluesky + Mastoodon may take 10 mins.

Blueshy + Mastodon + Youtube may take 15 mins.

 

Bluesky + Mastodon + Youtube + another connector you installed may take 20 mins.

 

and so on.

 

It also depends on if the app is in the foreground or background. In addition, please make sure Iconfactory Tapestry's version number is identical across all platforms where you use the app.
